News Anchor 2.4.1 beta is out

News Anchor users can download News Anchor 2.4.1 beta from my dropbox folder – as long as it’s there. As usual, Mac App Store customers will need to run the current live version so that it will create the necessary license file.

This version is primarily bug fixes and performance enhancements. The Growl notifications are better: it properly notifies how many new episodes that you have and whether there was any feed that couldn’t be reached during the refresh cycle. Furthermore channel images are now stored as individual files which helps to combat fragmentation of the main database file. Those images are also now stored as JPEG2000 files, which supports thumbnailing better and help increase the performance of the channel selection display. Special thanks to Will Shipley for his writeup about JPEG2000 as a good format for thumbnailed images.
